I try to look deeper than reality in the world around me. Place and time are not important. In my work, various layers can be seen. Life on Earth has been here longer than we can probably imagine, and life goes on.

The sea, the dunes, the night, the light of the seasons: unchanged through the centuries. In this way, I try to make contact, in the present, with the past. And to escape the madness of the everyday. I seek the ordinary voice of well-being. As Ruysdael saw the light in the dunes, Leon Spilliaert contemplated the coast in his sleepless nights, and Van Gogh discovered the south of Europe.

Exploring the outer world is also a quest for the inner self. I use photography to explore my (inner) world. To let the subconscious speak. My contrast-rich black-and-white and dark poetic images become a way to interpret life itself and discover its layers. To reveal what it can be.

In addition to photography, I experiment with charcoal, video, and sound. I search for new ways to express the layers, stripped of words. To capture the essence of life itself.

I may not have all the answers, but I am not afraid to ask the difficult questions. I discover new media and seek the boundaries of what is possible, whether it's 35mm film, digital, or sound. I am on a quest to try to capture the essence and complexity of life itself.
